Newborn babies grow so quick and at the time we think we are taking it all in, but it’s so easy to forget just how tiny those fingers and toes really were, or how deep those creases in their chubby little legs were.
When I photograph newborns, I love to capture the lot. Sleepy and posed, smooches with mum, dad and any siblings, and close ups of those fleeting newborn baby details. It can be a posed session, or a lifestyle session which is more relaxed.
There is also the option of having baby with you in a milk bath, being held, fed, or floating can make for very special images. Particularly if you decide to have a Milk Bath Maternity Session and keep the image theme throughout.
This is in Studio only, these sessions involve up to 3 hours (if baby is well settled and sleeps deeply its normally more like 2 hours), specific beautiful posing, this also includes the use of props such as baskets, bowls, wraps, hats etc. Baby is preferably between 5-14 days old so they can pose in curly sleep poses.
I do a variety of setups in the colours you have requested. Poses are nude, wrapped or in a little knitted outfit I supply. I am happy to incorporate any ideas you have prior to the session.
In Studio, of baby only - this is a simple session to capture baby while they are little. It inlcudes 3 - 4 setups in one colour theme of your choice. Baby is wrapped the for the whole session and it is only up to an hour long. Becasue Baby is wrapped they can be up to about 6 weeks or age for this this session. Macro (close ups) can be added on as an extra.
Lifestyle is set in your home or a relaxed location of your choice. It is a documentarty style session where baby can be simply wrapped or dressed in your favourite outfit you have for them and held in various ways throughout your home or location. The aim is to capture how it is when baby is brand new in the home. Because no formal posing is involved, baby can be any age that suits you.
These sessinos are usually done within two days of baby being born and at the hospital or fresh at home. This shoot captures baby relaxing and soaking in those first fresh hours of being born and all the little details that go with it.
This is an incredible time and an investment that will be treasured forever, I am on call 24 hour/7days from 2 weeks before due date (or booked date if you are to be induced). I will arrive at the hospital or at your home once you have notified me that active labour has started or you are up to 7cm dialated. I will capture whatever you have disccused with me that is important to you, if there needs to be a C-section that is not an issue, I have photographed one before, it just needs to be allowed by the Midwife, OBGYN and Anesthetist. I stay for up to an hour after the birth to get all those first cuddles and details of baby.
